| History |
Napa means “land of plenty” in Wappo Indian language. Early explorers such as George Yount planted grapes in Napa in 1838. Charles Krug is credited with establishing the first commercial winery in 1861. The 1966 opening of the Robert Mondavi Winery started the wine boom in Napa Valley. |
