More than any other vineyard, Sleepy Hollow has helped put Monterey and the Santa Lucia Highlands on the map as world-renowned winegrowing regions. With panoramic views of the Salinas Valley and beyond, Perched on an expansive benchland 13 miles from Monterey Bay, the well-drained vineyard features sparse soils comprised of sand, gravel, and granite, which reduce yields and create rich, concentrated flavours in the grapes. The vineyard receives morning sunlight from its east northeast exposure, and lives much of the time in the cool fog and wind from the Pacific Ocean. With a long, cool growing season, the grapes develop the character, intensity and depth of flavour for which the vineyard has become famous.
This distinctive expression of world-class Pinot Noir shows what can be produced from the Sleepy Hollow Vineyard. It offers aromas of savoury spice and opulent dark fruit, including cola, plum and blackberry along with hints of vanilla. Rich on the palate, luscious notes of black cherry, raspberry, clove and nutmeg meld for a soft, mouth-filling texture. An elegant and luxurious wine, it has an underlying minerality and vibrant acidity to complement a satiny smooth finish with a delightful touch of supple tannins and hard spices.
