Description

Given the name 'The Afternoon' it should be no surprise that this is a wine for any time of day, beautifully approachable on it's own yet complex enough to stand up to the richest of dishes. After hand-picking and careful sorting the wine was fermented in barrel and then aged on lees for eight months, giving a wine full of texture, yet with the fruity, zesty character that makes it unmistakeably Sauvignon Blanc. The strong mineral background, a stamp of the Knights Valley Estate, balances the overall richness, giving a superb refinement. The finish is layered, very long and elegant.

93 Points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown (Wine Advocate)

"The 2019 Sauvignon Blanc l'Apres Midi is composed of 90% Sauvignon Blanc (one-third is Musque Clone) and 10% Semillon, grown alongside Les Pavots in Knights Valley. Due to issues with fruit set, the crop was naturally a little smaller this year. Exuberant scents of passion fruit, gooseberries and lime cordial come bounding out of the glass with suggestions of honeysuckle, wild thyme and wet slate. The medium to full-bodied palate is chock-full of ripe citrus and tropical fruit flavors with a pleasant oiliness to the texture and plenty of freshness, finishing long and savory. 2,320 cases were made." 2021-2026
