Rob Talbott first tasted the wines of Burgundy wines whilst on his travels for the family business selling silk ties. This Damascene moment led to the dream of creating a similar wine style back in his native California and in 1982 he settled on vineyards in the Santa Lucia highlands. Here the combination of cool morning fogs, Pacific Ocean winds and warm sunny days are ideal conditions for producing premium cool climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. This inherent quality was recognised in 2016 when Wine Enthusiast Magazine designated his Sleepy Hollow as a Grand Cru in its own informal ranking of the best vineyards in California. Rich brioche and vanilla aromas entertain on the nose of the Kali Hart, whilst the palate shows riper tropical and tangerine flavours, all balanced by a creamy mouthfeel and exciting finish.
