After over two decades in bottle, one would be concerned that this Napa Valley Chardonnay would be well past its prime. However nothing could be further from the truth. The acidity provided by the hillside fruit has allowed it to age elegantly, and in reality it tastes far more akin to a 10y.o. Grand Cru Chablis than a 24y.o. Napa Chardonnay. Soft, elegant and textured, this wine will reward cool room temperature serving and will match well to pork or a meaty fish. Scents of crushed rock and gentle spices opens up to a world of mineral charged fruit, orchard rather than citrus. It has energy and drive on the palate and the acid backbone is fleshed out by generous sweet spice with peach and apricot. The fine touch of the Stony Hill slopes; austerity is balanced by the ripeness of the fruit.
