Study in Blue shows what is possible when the Cabernet Sauvignon that made Napa Valley iconic is judiciously blended with merlot and syrah, a combination rarely seen elsewhere. Well-established hillside vineyards in Oakville, Rutherford and Spring Mountain are the foundation of this wine, giving the finished blend its intense inner core of fruit. Clean fermentation in stainless steel was followed by 30 months in mostly new French oak, giving a wine full of fruit and yet backed by toasty complexity. With its blue hues and pronounced blueberry aromas, this distinct blend is a study in blue. Bordeaux varieties provide the framework, while Syrah transports the blend to a realm all its own.
