For more than 80 years, the Louis M. Martini Winery has crafted world-class Cabernet Sauvignon from the exceptional vineyards of Napa and Sonoma counties. For this wine the primary fruit source was Barrelli Creek Vineyard on the west side of Alexander Valley, a region winemaker Michael Eddy refers to as a hidden gem for Cabernet. The vineyard’s well-drained, gravelly slopes help to build and maintain elegant fruits and ripe acidity.
The grapes were harvested in the early morning to keep the fruit cool while it was destemmed and sent directly to tank. Individual lots were evaluated separately as they aged and then blended to allow the flavors to marry in barrel. Oak aging took place over a total of 18 months in a combination of French and American oak.
The 2015 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon continues the winegrowing and winemaking approach that has garnered consistent critical acclaim. Intense fruit flavours and subtle layers of spice and earth further distinguish this classic Alexander Valley Cabernet.
Bold, dark fruit notes of plum and blackcurrant mingle with hints of baking spice to create a layered palate. An ample amount of Petite Sirah from the historic Monte Rosso Vineyard provides added depth and structure to create a rich, full-body, with a lasting finish.
