The grapes for this wine were grown at the winery’s Estate vineyard in Rutherford, as well as select vineyards from St. Helena and Oak Knoll AVAs. As is typical for Whitehall Lane, a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon is blended in to make a Merlot with layers of flavours, complexity, and balance. The wine was aged in a combination of mostly old French and American oak barrels for 18 months and then bottled unfined and unfiltered. Dark cranberries and dried cherries burst out of this wine, coupled with cocoa dust, fresh strawberry jam, cherry cola, pomegranate, and toasted vanilla. On the palate fine, firm tannins balance black cherries, red currants, goji berries, and toasted walnuts. It is supple in texture, with attractive depth on the finish. Drinking well know, it will continue to develop right through 2023 with proper cellaring.
