Named for the three generations of the Leonardini family, this is an expertly made proprietary blend, led by Cabernet Sauvignon and ably backed by Merlot, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Each grape varietal was fermented and aged as separate lots in French and American oak barrels for 18 months before blending and bottling without fining or filtration. The label, a bold view of artist Jacqui Oakley’s oil on canvas painting, tells the story of what is in the bottle: it is a bold, impressive, focused wine loaded with vivid aromas, flavours, and textures. The nose evokes candied black fruit, red currants, stewed black plums, licorice, and dried sage. On the palate, it bursts with fresh blackberries, crème de cassis, dark chocolate, and mixed berry jam and finishes with round, silky smooth tannins.
