Description
Named after the bundle of spices so important to quality cooking, this wine is a complex concoction of spices, red fruits and stunning balance due to the co-fermentation of three field selections of syrah. The fruit is sourced from an exceptional hillside vineyard located in Bennett Valley, where natural conditions are perfect for growing Syrah in the Goulding cobbly clay loam soil. Handcrafted using classical winemaking techniques native to the Rhône Valley, 14 months in French oak and bottling without fining or filtration create a stunning, complex wine that will age for decades to come. Intense violet, hints of lavender, black cherry, fresh leather, white pepper and clove notes dominate the palate, whilst the finish is rich and concentrated with a lingering spiciness. Bouquet Garni comes “across like a Guigal single vineyard Côte-Rôtie such as La Landonne. It is a compelling, world-class, killer Syrah.” Robert M. Parker, Jr. The Wine Advocate, December 2015
