Rob Talbott first tasted the wines of Burgundy wines whilst on his travels for the family business selling silk ties. This Damascene moment led to the dream of creating a similar wine style back in his native California and in 1982 he settled on vineyards in the Santa Lucia highlands. Here the combination of cool morning fogs, Pacific Ocean winds and warm sunny days are ideal conditions for producing premium cool climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. This inherent quality was recognised in 2016 when Wine Enthusiast Magazine designated his Sleepy Hollow as a Grand Cru in its own informal ranking of the best vineyards in California. The most fruit forward style with in the Talbott range, the nose of the Kali Hart Pinot Noir is redolent of cherry cola and boysenberry. The palate features richer red fruit, herbs and hint of vanilla on the finish.
