Even in the sustainably sourced and managed vineyards of the world, a flock of sheep left to roam is not what you would expect to find – but that’s Honig.
Join us for a fabulous tasting of Honig wines with tempting nibbles.
Taking over the family estate at twenty-two, Michael Honig inherited a winery and some stock, but no regular sales. Determined to prove to his family that the vineyard was worthwhile, he built the business up by cycling door to door selling to San Francisco’s restaurants. This utterly hands on approach paid off, and the vineyard expanded – in 1990 they planted Cabernet Sauvignon alongside the Sauvignon Blanc. Twenty-five years later there are various single-vintage bottles of Sauvignon and Cabernet, dessert wine and some cracking rosé. All of these are farmed sustainably, hence the sheep – natures natural weed-eaters.
Key to this operation is Stephanie.
Stephanie married Michael and joined the company in 2006 as it’s international face, and we are delighted to announce she is joining us on the 12th of August for a tutored tasting.
The Vineyard Cellar’s is proud to announce we have the first ever release tasting for the new vintages of reserve Sauvignon, alongside all the others. Come and join us!
